Missouri driving practice tests

Class F Instruction Permit

The Missouri Driver Guide tells you something no other state prints: almost half of everyone who sits this test fails it the first time.

Adaptive · rebuilt every time

Your weak spots

Finish a set and we'll build this from what you actually missed - the questions you got wrong, weighted, plus more from the topics that tripped you up. Nothing to drill yet.

The real test

25
Questions
20 of 25 (80%)
To pass
  • 25 multiple-choice questions, 20 correct to pass. The written test is one of four separate exams, not a sectioned single score.
  • The road sign test is a separate exam whose length and pass mark Missouri does not publish. The widely-repeated '80% on each section including road signs' has no official source.
  • Two written attempts a day are allowed. Non-commercial testing is free.
  • The Driver Guide states outright that almost 50 percent of all test-takers fail the first time.

Read the official handbook

This is the source everything on the real test comes from, and it is free. Practice questions find your gaps; the handbook fills them. Read it on the government's own site so you get the current version.

Watch out for

Rules that catch people out in Missouri specifically.

  • The four-lane exception releasing oncoming traffic from stopping for a school bus needs no median - a divided highway and a four-lane road are two independent exceptions.
  • U-turns are forbidden at ANY signal-controlled intersection, not just where posted.
  • A moped needs a driver licence and an electric bicycle needs none, which is the opposite answer for two things that look identical at the kerb.
