Georgia driving practice tests

Class CP Instructional Permit

Georgia scores road signs and road rules as two separate exams of 20, and you need 15 in each. Ace the rules and fluff the signs and you still fail.

Your weak spots

Finish a set and we'll build this from what you actually missed - the questions you got wrong, weighted, plus more from the topics that tripped you up. Nothing to drill yet.

The real test

40
Questions
15 of 20 in EACH part (road signs and road rules)
To pass
  • Two separate 20-question exams: road signs, and road rules. You need 15 correct in each.
  • Neither official source gives an aggregate score, so a strong half cannot rescue a weak one.
  • Retake the next day after a first failure, then 7 days after a second. $10 per attempt.

Read the official handbook

This is the source everything on the real test comes from, and it is free. Practice questions find your gaps; the handbook fills them. Read it on the government's own site so you get the current version.

Watch out for

Rules that catch people out in Georgia specifically.

  • Signs and rules are scored separately - 15 of 20 in each, with no combined score to fall back on.
  • Under 21, a single 4-point conviction suspends your licence. Under 18, it takes 4 points in 12 months.
  • Joshua's Law shapes when a 16-year-old can be licensed at all.

Practice sets

6 sets · 195 questions · feedback after every answer

Georgia Basics

Starter · 30 questions

The first things a Georgia driver has to know cold: what the sign shapes mean, who goes first, and the handful of numbers DDS expects you to recite. Signs get the biggest share here, because half the real exam is signs.

The basics, gently introduced.

Signs, Signals and Everyday Rules

Easy · 30 questions

Thirty questions on the material most Georgia candidates get right once they have read the manual - sign shapes and colours, signal behaviour, lane markings and the ordinary courtesies the law happens to require.

Core rules most people get right.

Real Exam Difficulty

Medium · 35 questions

Thirty-five questions pitched where the real road rules and road signs papers sit: the numbers DDS expects you to have memorised, and the rules where a plausible answer is still the wrong one.

Real exam difficulty.

Georgia in Detail

Medium · 35 questions

Thirty-five questions on the rules that separate a driver who has read the manual from one who has skimmed it - pavement markings, work zones, expressway discipline and the Georgia-specific laws that surprise people who learned to drive elsewhere.

Real exam difficulty.

The Ones People Fail On

Hard · 35 questions

Thirty-five questions on the material that actually costs Georgia candidates their pass: the points system, the suspension thresholds that differ by age, and the rules where the intuitive answer is wrong.

The ones people actually fail on.

Exam Simulation

Exam simulation · 30 questions

Thirty questions drawn the way DDS draws them, mixed across signs, traffic law and safe driving with no hints. The real Georgia knowledge exam is 40 questions in two parts - 20 on road signs and 20 on road rules - and you must answer 15 correctly in EACH part, so a strong half cannot rescue a weak one. Hold yourself to at least 24 out of 30 here, and check that your signs answers stand up on their own.

Full length, real rules, no hints.
