Florida driving practice tests
Class E Learner License
Florida asks 50 questions and wants 40 right. The insurance rules catch people out - it is a no-fault state, so the minimums it tests are not the ones most drivers expect.
The real test
- 50 multiple-choice questions on Florida traffic laws, safe driving practices and traffic controls.
- You need 40 correct - 80 percent.
- Applicants under 18 may take it online through an approved third party administrator; everyone else takes it at a service centre.
Read the official handbook
This is the source everything on the real test comes from, and it is free. Practice questions find your gaps; the handbook fills them. Read it on the government's own site so you get the current version.
Watch out for
Rules that catch people out in Florida specifically.
- Florida is a no-fault state - the PIP and PDL minimums it tests are not the liability figures people expect.
- Move Over now covers disabled vehicles too, and there is a 5 mph floor when you cannot change lanes.
- The under-18 curfew splits at 16 and 17 - the hours are different for each.
