Florida driving practice tests

Class E Learner License

Florida asks 50 questions and wants 40 right. The insurance rules catch people out - it is a no-fault state, so the minimums it tests are not the ones most drivers expect.

Your weak spots

Finish a set and we'll build this from what you actually missed - the questions you got wrong, weighted, plus more from the topics that tripped you up. Nothing to drill yet.

The real test

50
Questions
40 of 50 (80%)
To pass
  • 50 multiple-choice questions on Florida traffic laws, safe driving practices and traffic controls.
  • You need 40 correct - 80 percent.
  • Applicants under 18 may take it online through an approved third party administrator; everyone else takes it at a service centre.

Read the official handbook

This is the source everything on the real test comes from, and it is free. Practice questions find your gaps; the handbook fills them. Read it on the government's own site so you get the current version.

Watch out for

Rules that catch people out in Florida specifically.

  • Florida is a no-fault state - the PIP and PDL minimums it tests are not the liability figures people expect.
  • Move Over now covers disabled vehicles too, and there is a 5 mph floor when you cannot change lanes.
  • The under-18 curfew splits at 16 and 17 - the hours are different for each.

Practice sets

6 sets · 195 questions · feedback after every answer

Florida Basics

Starter · 30 questions

The rules you meet on your first drive in Florida: what the shapes and colours mean, who goes first, and the handful of numbers the Class E exam expects you to know cold.

The basics, gently introduced.

Getting Comfortable

Easy · 30 questions

Thirty questions on the rules most Florida drivers get right once they have read the handbook properly: markings, signals, the graduated licence curfews, and the numbers that carry points.

Core rules most people get right.

Real Exam Ground

Medium · 35 questions

Thirty-five questions at the difficulty the Class E exam actually uses: exact distances, the rules that only apply in particular circumstances, and the Florida-specific items people meet for the first time on test day.

Real exam difficulty.

Wider Ground

Medium · 35 questions

Thirty-five questions across the parts of the handbook people skim: work zones, equipment, crash duties, insurance consequences, and the right-of-way rules that only show up in Florida.

Real exam difficulty.

The Ones People Fail

Hard · 35 questions

Exact figures, sign pairs that look alike, and Florida rules with more than one condition in play. Work through this set slowly; almost everything here is something candidates report getting wrong on the real exam.

The ones people actually fail on.

Exam Simulation

Exam simulation · 30 questions

Thirty questions drawn the way FLHSMV draws them, mixed across signs, traffic law and safe driving with no hints. The real Class E Knowledge Exam is 50 questions and you need 40 of them right, which is 80 percent - so hold yourself to at least 24 out of 30 here.

Full length, real rules, no hints.
